Coding Tips
- •Stage 1 CKD requires documentation of kidney damage (proteinuria, hematuria, imaging abnormalities) even though GFR is normal or near-normal (≥90)
- •Always code the underlying cause of CKD (diabetes, hypertension, etc.) as an additional diagnosis when documented
